Curious Liquids Café

Curious Liquids was a fun coffeehouse near the State House in downtown Boston. Tragically, they closed in 2000, but I’m keeping this page up for posterity’s sake. I understand some of their menu was adopted by the Bagel Plus Café, a block down the street, but I haven’t been there. Andy Bressen pointed me to a Boston Phoenix article about their closing.

The main seating area was downstairs in what used to be a wine cellar, so the atmosphere was fun, with lots of little alcoves in the stone walls with comfy armchairs in them. They had books and games for people to play, and when I was there there was never any pressure to leave when you’re done with your nibblies - it was a relaxed, comfy, pleasant hangout spot.

When they had a web site, it had helpful hints like ‘Dress code: wear clothes’. (Oh, well - no place is perfect. :-)

Here’s their flyer, as a 12k GIF image.
