My wildflowers, August 2007

In the summer of 2007, my girlfriend Mare ordered a wildflower mix from American Meadows to plant in her front lawn, and I was inspired to do the same. My flowers were much slower to bloom than hers were, but they got much taller. Most of what actually took root where I actually intended to plant the flowers was cosmos and coreopsis, but some of the other seeds blew elsewhere in the yard while I was trying to sow them and were the first to bloom. Oh, and the baby's breath helpfully took root only between the bricks of my walkway.

The first plants to blossom where I actually intended to plant them (along the side of aforesaid walkway) were some pretty little white flowers; I’m not sure exactly what they were. But the second to blossom was this coreopsis.

The camera is a Canon PowerShot S410. The variation in colour is because it was a somewhat overcast morning, and I used the flash for some of the pictures.
