Doors Open Lowell, 10 May 2003 (3D pictures)

These are some anaglyph (i.e. two-colour) 3D pictures I took during Doors Open Lowell in 2003; each composed from two pictures taken from slightly different angles. They need to be viewed with red-cyan 3-D glasses (of which I have a large supply I ordered when NASA started releasing Mars Pathfinder pictures in anaglyph 3D format.

I had previously made anaglyph 3D images from pairs of photos through a somewhat clumsy process of adjusting the colours on each picture in one piece of software and then combining them using command-line utilities. I was delighted to discover recently that ImageMagick's composite command has an option to do this with one command.

(These pictures were originally taken at 1280x920. If you know me and you'd like the originals, let me know.)

Beams, railings, posts, and what I think are steel support lines in the atrium of Canal Place Condominiums, a converted worsted mill built by the Bigelow Carpet Company in 1906. This picture was taken from the third floor. View with red-cyan 3-D glasses (red over right eye).

Doors Open Lowell (http://www.doorsopenlowell.org/), 2003.05.10 -- Canal Place Condominiums (interior).

Beams (with what I think are steel support lines), posts, railings, and skylights in the atrim of Canal Place Condominiums, a converted worsted mill built by the Bigelow Carpet Company in 1906. Picture taken from the third floor. View with red-cyan 3-D glasses (red over right eye). The 3-D effect is messed up near the top of the picture; I must not have taken the two component pictures at quite the right angles.

sculpture.jpg
Doors Open Lowell (http://www.doorsopenlowell.org/), 2003.05.10 -- Along Central Street.

Part of a granite sculpture called "Human Construction" by Carlos Dorrien, made in 1989. It's in two roughly symmetrical parts, one on each side of the bridge over the Pawtucket Canal. View with red-cyan 3-D glasses (red over right eye).

The sky and water look funny because the waves and clouds changed between the two pictures.
